Why I Am a Tech Luddite
Adobe was one of the first companies to move from selling perpetual licenses to use a specific version of their software for a single fee (requiring them to put enough new features into the next version to entice users to pay for an upgrade) to an online and/or subscription model charging users every month for the same thing. I have always refused to participate in those ripoffs, sticking with older, reliable versions that don't require me to be online.

When I replaced my computer last year, I discovered Adobe had disabled the website that allows you to remove a license from one computer while still maintaining the website that prevents you from installing a license on a new one. I discuss how I handled that fraud and why my "new" computer was built in 2020, and the legacy programs I use on it on my blog.
